Paul A. Harden

Paul is responsible for oversight of the safe and reliable operations of the FES nuclear fleet.

Paul joined FirstEnergy in January 2008 as vice president, Fleet Support and worked as recovery executive for the Perry Plant before being named site vice president for the Beaver Valley Power Station. He was promoted to senior vice president, Fleet Engineering, in April 2013. Paul was promoted to the senior vice president and Chief Operating Officer position in March 2015.

Prior to joining FirstEnergy, he worked for Nuclear Management Company in Hudson, Wisconsin, where he was the fleet vice president, Projects and Engineering. In addition, from 2001 to 2007, he held positions of site vice president, director of Site Operations and director of Engineering at the Palisades Nuclear Plant in Michigan, as well as a temporary assignment in 1995 as director of Recovery at the Kewaunee Nuclear Plant in Wisconsin.

Prior to Nuclear Management Company, Paul held various positions with Consumers Energy, the previous owner of the Palisades Nuclear Plant. Starting in 1990, he worked in the areas of radiation protection, nuclear engineering, operations and design engineering. He also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve as an electronics technician from 1985 to 1992.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He is a registered professional engineer and held a Senior Reactor Operator License for the Palisades Power Plant in Michigan.
