Met-Ed and Penelec released the results of their first two auctions that were held to procure power for the period of January 1, 2011 to May 31, 2011. The average wholesale clearing price was $66.39 per megawatt hour (MWh) for Penelec Small Commercial and $76.74/MWh for Met-Ed Small Commercial. Residential clearing prices were $64.34/MWh for Penelec and $77.76/MWh for Met-Ed. These are wholesale prices and the corresponding retail rates would be adjusted upward for distribution line losses, administrative costs, Pennsylvania Gross Receipts Tax and inclusion of the Network Integration Transmission Services (NITS).
